Ex-trooper in Illinois pleads guilty to child porn
June 15, 2011

WHEATON, Ill. - A former Illinois State Police trooper will spend 60 days in the DuPage County Jail after pleading guilty to official misconduct and possession of child pornography.

Juan Rodriguez, 51, of Glen Ellyn, who retired in March 2010, admitted to viewing child pornography on a state-issued laptop computer while sitting in his squad car.

DuPage County prosecutors told Judge George Bakalis that Rodriguez's name came up during an ongoing investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security into the Internet distribution of child pornography.

In addition to jail, Bakalis on Tuesday also sentenced Rodriguez to 30 months of probation and ordered him to register as a child sex offender and pay a $2,000 fine.

Defense attorney Brian Telander said his client denies ever having touched a child in a sexual manner.
